Purpose:
@AlbertaWelcome TV show invites viewer participation through our blog and Facebook page:  We use composite characters in our show.  We encourage the use of the blog for sharing stories and experiences that are of interest to other International students, to host families, host communities, and family supporters of International students.

Rules:
Some of the stories or experiences you share with us may inspire our writers to include similar events in the lives of our characters.  Your use of this site indicates you agree to our possible anonymous use of stories and experiences in the show. We also hope to include here opportunities to have conversations with the director and other members of the production.

We will share links to organizations, events and information related to the international student experience in Canada.  We are committed to making this a non-partisan, non-political space.  At the same time, we recognize the power of the connections between people from different backgrounds in helping to resolve international identity conflicts constructively.

Commercial stuff:
We may offer a classifieds section and advertising space at some point, but currently this is not a priority.

Extras
Our production will likely be in need of extras and actors for various locations.  If you want to be an extra and if you reside in Southern Alberta, please feel free to send us a head shot or an email to be added to our contact list in the event we issue an extras call.

Casting calls:
If our funding goes through we will need actors:  Register with our Alberta Welcome blog (here) to receive updates and casting calls.

Crew:
Our production culture is largely about building connections.  We encourage collaboration between experienced craftspeople and those with aspirations to be involved in film.  We also provide opportunities for community member involvement were it makes sense to do so.  We are informal ambassadors for film and video production just as international students are in an informal sense ambassadors for their respective countries and cultures.

Public Health and Media:
Alberta Welcome aspires to benefit the public health of communities by modeling non-violent conflict resolution, and by differentiating between healthy and unhealthy ways of addressing challenges in the lives of our characters.  We realize that without relying on violence to attract viewers, the success of the show in a media-saturated world will depend on the quality of our writing, the pioneering of new storytelling concepts,  good drama, suspense, and having a strong social media relationship with our viewing audience.   Higher than expected production quality, and an aspiring for excellence in acting and directing are also part of achieving our goal.  Our team strives to set a new benchmark for community narrative production.

Benefit:  Watching Alberta Welcome, and engaging with our social media site should benefit our viewers.  From time to time we will ask viewers to respond to a poll on how we  are doing.
